The Story the Orchestra Of Object and other projects

“Quartet” (2023) was my very first installation in the “Orchestra Of Objects” series. It was my graduation work as I was graduating from the Sculpture and Installation department at the Estonian Academy of Arts in spring 2023. It was first exhibited at the TASE 2023 graduation show of the Estonian Academy of Arts.

I came to the idea, to use vibration speakers to make household items perform music, through discussing with the Estonian fashion designer and entrepreneur Reet Aus, academics Merle Küttim and Tarvo Niine at TalTech and my tutors Taavi Talve and Taavi Piibemann. Also, I had earlier seen Katrin Enni‘s sound art sculptures, where she had used vibration speakers.

Joel Väli was the one who showed one of the demo-videos of “Quartet” to Ivar Põllu, the head of Tartu Uus Teater, as the Tartu Uus Teater was looking for artists for their performing arts festival “Hungerburg2024”. It was Põllu’s idea to invite me to create an installation, using the same concept, but in larger scale and with lights, in the abandoned kitchen rooms of the Mereranna holiday home in Narva-Jõesuu. This is how “Hungermusik” (2024) was born.

My later works “Spruce 2” (2024, Kanuti Gildi SAAL, curated by Maike Lond), “Lai 7” (2025, Urban Festival UIT), “Orchestra Of Objects” (2025, Paavli Kultuurivabrik) and the installation for theatre production “Eeter” (2025, Theatre Ekspeditsioon, director Ringo Ramul) were born directly thanks to “Hungermusik”, as various organizers saw my installation at “Hungerburg2024”.

I won the Performing Arts Award for the installation for “Eeter” and for “Orchestra of Objects” at the Estonian Theatre Awards 2026.
