The quiet panic was amplified by the fact that it was impossible to slip unnoticed out of the hall — all that remained was to wait submissively for the chandelier rattling in the ceiling to shatter into pieces and for those shards to slash the audience. Well then, I tempered my dread with a touch of self-irony, but it didn’t turn out entirely successful.“
